Children

"It is a happy talent to know how to play."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Moving between the legs of tables and of chairs, rising or falling, grasping at kisses and toys, advancing boldly, sudden to take alarm, retreating to the corner of arm and knee, eager to be reassured, taking pleasure in the fragrant brilliance of the Christmas tree.”
T.S. Eliot

Play is the highest phase of child development—
of human development at this state…It gives therefore joy, freedom, contentment, inner and outer rest, peace with the world. It holds the sources of all that is good.
(Froebel)

Play is the spring board for the imagination. From this comes dreams. With dreams come invention. Thus through play the future is full of boundless possibilities only inhibited by one's opportunity to play and imagine. Foster a playful environment for the children and see what wonders they will create.

"Children engage in such (free) play because they enjoy it--it's self-directed. They do not play for rewards; they enjoy the doing, not the end result. Once they get bored, they go on to do something else--and continue to learn and grow."
Sheila G. Flaxman

One of the most obvious facts about grown-ups, to a child, is that they have forgotten what it is like to be a child. Randall Jarrell

That’s Why God Made Little Girls
Play dishes filled with hopes and wishes.
That’s why God made little girls.
Flowers on pockets and necklace lockets.
That’s why God made little girls.
Dancing and twirls with hair all in curls.
That’s why God made little girls.
Baby dolls and bouncy balls.
That’s why God made little girls.
Wearing ribbons and lace with charm and grace.
That’s why God made little girls.
To give the gift of daughters, sisters and mothers.
That’s why god made little girls.
Wendy Silva

All the dreams
I prayed you’d be
are all the things you were, once my little girl
& now my shining star.

BUTTERFLY WHISPERS
The day you are ready to breakaway
from the safety of your protected cocoon.
The transformation will come quickly,
Like the changing from sun to moon.
The colours that adorn your body
are more beautiful than you can ever know.
And although I want to keep you in the safety of glass,
I know that you must grow.
After watching you practice with newborn wings
you spread your wings and fly.
I coud not be more proud,
for you have become the most beautiful butterfly.
Wendy Silva

You make every day special just by being you.
Fred Rogers

A child fills a place in your heart you never knew was empty.
Anon

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million.
Walt Streightiff

The plays of natural lively children are the infancy of art. Children live in a world of imagination and feeling. They invest the most insignificant object with any form they please, and see in it whatever they wish to see.
Adam Gottlob Oehlenschlager

Danish romantic poet and dramatist
(1779 - 1850)

Picnics are fun and laughter
Blue skies
Sunny days
Fresh air
An opportunity to scooter
Any time any where, any day.

A new baby is like the beginning of all things -

wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.”
Eda J Leshan

Her pretty feetLike snails did creep

A little out, and then,
As if they played at bo-peep
Did soon draw in agen.
Robert Herrick
